Releases often break conversion without breaking anything technically. How to detect these silent regressions and trace them back fast.
Silent regressions
Tests pass, monitoring is green and conversion still falls. A field becomes required, a button moves below the fold, a default changes, a link expires sooner. Nothing is broken in code terms. Users just stop finishing.
These regressions can run for weeks because no alert covers them.
Watch the steps that pay
Pick the few funnel steps that matter most for revenue and watch them for several days after each release. A comparison with the same weekday before the release is often enough to see a change.
Annotate releases
Put release markers on the charts people actually open. When someone sees a drop, the likely cause should be right there on the same chart.
Trace it back
When a step drops, read the release diff for anything touching that step, then search support chats and call notes from the same days. A quote like “it suddenly asks for my card” often confirms the cause faster than any chart.
Fix forward, carefully
Roll back if the impact is large, otherwise fix forward with the smallest change and check it before it ships. Wirey connects releases, funnels and user conversations, flags the regression and opens a pull request for your review.
